The Rotary Club of Adyar was inaugurated in 1985. The memorable function had 75 people and their spouses attending. The spouses later went on to create the “Inner wheel club of Adyar”. The club has grown since then and adopted the CLP in 2008-09.
The club takes part in community services, welfare programmes, literacy programmes, donations, etc. Also, the club involves itself in fundraising events to support community service projects supporting various causes.
Challenge
The Rotary Club of Adyar needs a solution to keep its members updated. Information regarding recent events, upcoming activities and new initiatives will have to reach all their members while they are on the go.
In addition to getting the information to the users, the club needed a mobile application that works on both iOS and Android-powered devices since these are the two major mobile operating systems.
Solution
Our development strategy involved Flutter, the open-source framework that helps build beautiful, multi-platform, natively compiled applications. We chose Flutter so that the end application will be simple and effective on mobile applications powered by iOS as well as Android.
Since both iOS and Android applications utilized the same codebase, the overall development time was cut in half. The multi-platform development approach effectively reduced the cost of the project as well.
Using Flutter, we were able to develop an application that was filled with all the necessary features to enhance the club’s digital presence. In addition, the features allowed the club to build a community of active members while also increasing the engagement rate.
The club was able to use the application to keep the members up-to-date on all information related to the club’s activities and initiatives. This included new corporate social responsibility activities, event images and videos, birthday wishes, etc.
Outcome
The club’s overall engagement rate skyrocketed, improving by over 80% since the application’s adoption by its members. In addition, the rate of engagement towards club activities increased and the new registrations for volunteers more than doubled.
